Over the sea far from the hectic world you find Vlieland. You move around the island on foot or by bike. Cars are not allowed for non-residents. The island breathes a pleasant calm. Beautiful sand beaches spread over the north side of the island. On the south of Vlieland is the Wadden Sea. The only vlillage on the island is Oost-Vlieland, with its lighthouse on the 40 metre high Vuurboet Dune. The well preserved facades of the houses in the main street (Dorpsstraat) bring back memories of the past. There are numerous nice little shops, bars and intimate restaurans.
