Highlights of Amsterdam

1. Van Gogh Museum

World biggest collection of drawings and paintings by  Vincent van Gogh. Reopened after renovation in April 2013!

Openingtimes: 10.00 am – 6 pm (Late night opening at Fridays until 10 pm).
Entrance fee: € 10,00, 13–17 years € 2,50, free entrance for childs younger than 12 years.

2. Guided boat tour
The Amsterdam canals are a must visit! From the world heritage listed canals you will see an amazing view of Amsterdam. You will amazed of  the historical canal houses, the 15th bridges view, the famous ‘Magere Brug’ (Skinny Bridge) at the Amstelcanal and the former VOC-ship ‘Amsterdam’ near the Scheepvaartmuseum.

3. Anne Frank house
The diary ‘Het Achterhuis’ made the Jewish girl, Anne Frank worldfamous. She wrote the diary during the second World War 1940-1945. Anne and her family where hidden for the occupying Germans in the canal house for two years. The handwritten dairy  is part of the collection.

4. Rijksmuseum
A visit to the Rijksmuseum is must! The collection includes more than million  object of the Golden Age and the worldfamous ‘Masterpieces’ of Rembrandt, Johannes Vermeer, Jan Steen. After a big renovation of more than 9 years the museum reopend in April 2013.

5. Amsterdam Historical Museum
Get in touch of Amsterdam’s rich history! The Amsterdam Historical Museum is situated in a former orphan house. Be familiar with historic facts as: Amsterdam was a fishing village during the 13th century but became the world most powerful trading in the 17th century.

6. Shopping in the 9 streets (or Haarlemmerstraat/Haarlemmerdijk)
The quarter 9 streets has picturesque shoppingstreets and lots of monumental buildings. Many luxery brands and flag-ship-stores are represented here. The Haarlemmerdijk/Haarlemmerstraat is awarded as best shoppingstreet of Holland!  Lots of unique and self-willed boutiques are located here.

7. Albert Cuypmarkt
The Albert Cuypmarkt is one of the most famous outdoor  markets in Holland! The market offers anything from tropical fruit, fish, books and electronics. The market is located in the quarter ‘De Pijp’ which hosts also lots of nice restaurants, cafes and boutiques.

8. Jordaan
The Jordaan is nowadays a trendy and popular quarter in Amsterdam city centre. It’s characterized by picturesque streets, art gallerys, nice shops and pubs. The quarter is located at the Westside of the canals.

Location: between Lijnbaansgracht, Brouwersgracht, Prinsengracht and Passeerdersgracht.

9. Royal Palace at Damsquare
You have to visit one of the most important buildings of Hollands capitol: the Royal palace. Last April 30, 2013 Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands adicated her for her trone to her son, now King Willem-Alexander. The palace is open for visitors since 2012 and the monumental interior is amazing.!

Openingtimes: 12:00 am – 05:00  (June - Augus 11:00 am –  05:00 pm)
Mark: The palace can be closed for Royal receptions.

10. City parks
In Amsterdam-City you can find a beautiful and wide park: Het Vondelpark. You can go for a stroll or a picknick in the park. The park attracts more than 10 million visitors a year. During the summer lots of performances and openair concerts.  Smaller but also nice cityparks are: Westerpark, Sarphatipark and Flevopark.
